Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of The eternal living word church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
We believe the true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ's (AGAPE) love, which is greater than the differences we possess, without it, we have no right to call ourselves Christians (1 Cor. 13)
We believe the worship of God should be spiritual (John 4:24), therefore we yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship. The worship of God should be intelligent; therefore we give great emphasis upon the teaching of God's word, that He might instruct us on how He should be worshipped (2Tim 3:16,17). The worship of God should be fruitful, therefore we look for His love in our lives as a supreme manifestation that we have been truly worshipping Him (John 3:21) (John 13:34, 35)
We believe the scripture is without error, that the bible (Old & New Testament) is the inspired (2 Tim. 3:16) infallible Word of God (2Pet. 1:19,20) (1 Pet. 1:25)
We believe that there is One God, who is Eternal & Sovereign. Creator of all things (Isa. 43:10) and that God is revealed in three persons, as Father, Son (Word) & Holy Spirit (Matt 28:19)
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human (John 1:1-3:14) He is the Son of God (Luke 3:21, 22) that He was born of a virgin (Luke 1:26-35) lived a sinless life (Heb. 4:15) provided for the atonement (payment) for our sins by His death on the cross (Isa. 53:4-6) was bodily resurrected (Luke 24:36-39) by the power of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:11) ascended to the right hand of the Father and ever lives to make intersession for us.
We believe that all people, by nature are separated by God and are responsible for their own sin. But salvation, redemption and forgiveness are freely given to all by grace of God (Eph. 2:1-8) When a person repents of sin and fully embraces Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior trusting in Him to save, that person is immediately Born Again (John 1:12,13) and sealed by the Hoy Spirit (Eph. 1:12-14) All of one's sin is forgiven (Rev. 1:5) and that person becomes a child of God. Therefore one will no longer continue to live a sinful life, but to set his/hers life apart for God (Phil. 2:12, 13)
We believe that the the Holy Spirit indwells every believer at conversion or when born again (1 Cor. 12:13) (John 7:37-39) and the Holy Spirit is manifest as we continue to drink of the Spirit and be filled (Eph. 5:17, 18) (Ga. 5:22, 23) therefore the believer is empowered by the Holy Spirit to be a witness for Jesus with boldness and to live a life well pleasing and acceptable to God (Acts 1:8)
We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the scriptures and that they are operating today in the Body of Christ. We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for the edifying of the church and they are to be exercised within scriptural guidelines. The gifts are also the manifestation of the power of the Holy Spirit, which He gives to each believer as He will and purposes (1 Cor. 12:7-10). We as believers are to desire the best gifts, seeking to exercise them in love that the whole body of Christ might be edified (1 Cor. 14:40). We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts and without love, all exercise of spiritual gifts are in vain (1 Cor. 13:1-3)
We believe that the governing of the Church should in fact depend on the Holy Spirit's lead (Acts 20:28)
We believe in water baptism, by immersion, not as a means of salvation, rather as an act of obedience to Christ. (1 Peter 3:20-21) which also manifests the inward faith in Christ, His death and resurrection as the only means of salvation. (Romans 6:1-6)
We await the pre-tribulation rapture of the Church (1 Thes. 4:15-18) (1 Thes. 5:9) & we believe in the second coming of Christ with his saints. (Rev. 19:11-16) which will proceed the tribulation period. We believe in the millenial reign with Christ (Rev. 20:4-6) which will be personal and visible, and the new heavens and the new earth (2 Peter 3:10-13) (Rev. 21:1-5)
We seek to preach God's word in a way that its message can be applied to an individual's life, leading that person to a great maturity in Christ.
